55 kg - TANABE, Chikara (31 entries, Pool 8)
1R - df. German Kontoev, Belarus 11-10
(Note: Tanabe gave up five points and the lead early in the second period, but regained the momentum against the 2001 world champion with a takedown and ankle lace. Scored the winning points with 30 seconds remaining and held on for the win.)
