ATHENS (August 25) - Results of bouts involving Japanese entries
in the third session of the greco-roman wrestling competition August 24-26
at Ano Liossia Olympic Hall:
60 kg (22 entries, 7 pools) - SASAMOTO, Makoto
Pool D
1R - df. Sidney Guzman (PER) by TF, 11-0, 2:31
Sasamoto scored with a three-point underarm spin and followed with a gut
wrench one minute into his first-round match. Sasamoto then showed a reverse
waist lock, but drove the other direction for a near fall and then capped
the technical fall with a gut wrench.

3R - v Davor Stefanek (SCG)

Pool B
1R - lost to Daniar Kobonov (KGZ), 3-2
Kobonov converted on a par terre chance with a gut wrench midway through
the first period for a 2-0 lead and then added a third point with an escape
off of Nagata's chance in par terre. Nagata scored a with a go-behind at
the end of the first period and received a penalty point for fleeing the
mat in the second period, but could not draw level before time ran out.
2R - lost to Marko Yli-Hannuksela (FIN), 3-0
Former world champion Yli-Hanniksela scored three points off a pair of
gut wrenches in the first period and held off Nagata's scoring attempts
the rest of the match. Nagata, the silver medalist at the Sydney Olympics
four years ago, saw his quest for a medal in Athens come to a sudden end.
