OLYMPIC GR POOL PAIRINGS (1) - JAPAN
ATHENS (August 23) - Results of bouts involving Japanese entries
in the first session of the greco-roman wrestling competition August 24-26
at Ano Liossia Olympic Hall:
55 kg (23 entries, 7 pools) - TOYOTA, Masatoshi
Pool A
1R - lost to Istvan Majoros (HUN), 5-3, 7:26
Toyota grabbed a 2-0 lead with a gut wrench in the first period, then misfired
with a back-arching throw (1 point) that resulted with Majoros on top (2
points). Majoros converted on a par terre chance in the second period to
draw even at 3-3. In extra time, Majoros executed another gut wrench for
the win.
2R - df. Jansel Ramirez (DOM) by TF, 11-0, 4:19
Toyota got rolling with a gut wrench and back-arching throw to go up 6-0
at the break. The Tokyo police officer then scored with exposure off a
passivity call and a low back-arching throw to cap the match.

1R - lost to Ara Abrahamian (SWE), 5-0, 6:07
Matsumoto gave up a pair of one-point gut wrenches in the first period,
then battled the 2002 world champion evenly through the remainder of regulation.
From the clinch to start extra time, Abrahamian hit a back-arching throw
for three points and the win.
2R - df. Janarbek Kenjeev (KGZ), 7-1
Matsumoto surrendered the first point, but rallied for a 2-1 lead at intermission.
In the second period, Matsumoto converted on a par terre chance with a
reverse waist lock, lift and throw to put the match away.
