RESULTS AT 1ST GR OLYMPIC QUALIFIER - JAPAN (3rd session)
NOVI SAD, Serbia and Montenegro (February
28) - Results of preliminary pool bouts involving
Japanese wrestlers on Saturday at the 1st
greco-roman wrestling Olympic qualifying
tournament at Vojvodina Sports Center:
55 kg (29 entries
TOYOTA, Masatoshi (Tokyo Metropolitan Police
Department)
Q1 - lost to Asset Imanbayev (KAZ), 6-0
Toyota was called for passivity a minute
into the bout and Imanbayev took advantage
with a pair of lifts for a 6-0 lead at the
intermission. Toyota forced a couple of passivity
calls on the Asia champion, but could not
convert.

SASAMOTO, Makoto (Sogo Seibi security employee)
QF - df. Alexei Shevtsov (RUS), 4-3
Toyota scored with a pair of tight gut
wrenches in the first period and then held
off the determined Russian. Shevtsov pulled
two points back with a front headlock and
turn. He had one final chance to tie with
a gut wrench in the final seconds, but could
only get one point.
SF - df. Paolo Fucile (ITA), 3-0
Sasamoto, who apparently injured his
right hand in the match with Shevtsov, wrestled
cautiously and took the opening points with
a gut wrench just before the end of the first
period. In the second period, he was looking
for the big throw to put the match out of
reach, but had to settle for a single point
on a failed arm throw.

Q1 - lost to Kanatbek Begaliev (KGZ), 4-0
Imuro got rolled over twice on a pair
of gut wrenches to give Begaliev a 3-0 lead.
The Asia No. 3 closed out the scoring with
a bodylock and tackle.
