YAMAMOTO GOLDEN ON 3RD DAY OF ASIA C'SHIPS

ALMATY (April 8) - Former four-time world champion Seiko Yamamoto (photo) pinned China's Su Lihui at 59 kg and claimed Japan's third gold medal of the Asian Wrestling Championships.
Yuri Kai (51 kg) and Mimi Sugawara (67 kg) added silver medals to the Japanese
haul on the third day of the championships, but Japan's three entries on
the first day of greco-roman were shut out of the win column.
For Yamamoto, who has won world titles in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003, it
was only her second Asian championship. Yamamoto, 25, won her first continental
crown in 1997 in the early days of female wrestling in Asia. Yamamoto's
opponent in the 59-kg final, Su was the silver medalist at 55 kg at last
year's world championships in Budapest.
