JAPANESE FALL EARLY ON 2ND DAY OF JR WORLD C'SHIPS

BUDAPEST (July 21) – Japan's four entries on the final day of greco-roman competition at the junior world wrestling championships all lost in the early rounds and failed to break into the upper ranks.

Kasumigaura (Ibaraki) high school stand-out Shori Maekawa posted Japan's lone victory of the day with a win by injury default over European junior runner-up Lyubomir Dimitrov (BUL) in the opening round at 120kg. Maekawa, however, lost in the next round to Parsa Nazari (IRI) and had to settle for 10th place overall.

Waseda University's Kazuhiro Hanayama was the only Japanese wrestler to get a chance in the consolation rounds after a loss to eventual silver medalist Dominik Etlinger (CRO), but dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker to Sosorka Gadiev (SWE).

55kg – AOKI, Masaki (24th, 27 entries)
R1 – lost to Zhou Shengwei (CHN), 0-2 (0-3, 0-2)


66kg – HANAYAMA, Kazuhiro (23rd, 33 entries)
R1 – bye
R2 – lost to Dominik Etlinger (CRO), 0-2 (0-1, 0-3)
r1 – lost to Sosorka Gazdiev (SWE), 1-2 (0-1, 1-0, 0-1)


84kg – YOKOSAWA, Toru (21st, 28 entries)
R1 – lost to Aslan Atem (TUR), 0-2 (0-1, 0-1)


120kg – MAEKAWA, Shori (10th, 26 entries)
R1 – df. Lyubomir Dimitrov (BUL) by injury default, 2P (1-1, F1-0)
R2 – lost to Parsa Nazari (IRI), 0-2 (0-1, 0-1)
