JAPANESE WOMEN PIN DOWN 3 GOLD ON 3RD DAY OF JR WORLD C'SHIPS
BUCHAREST (July 28) – High school hopeful Sara Dosho recorded three falls and two of her teammates notched a pair each as three Japanese wrestlers stampeded the women's competition with a gold rush at the junior wrestling world championships.
Dosho, a student at the high school affiliate of Shigakkan University, pinned Asia junior champ Tao Rongrong (CHN) in her first match at 67kg and then added a pair of falls over respected European foes in the quarterfinals and semifinals.
Dosho, however, was stretched to the limit by 2008 junior world champ Adeline
Gray (USA) in the finals but still emerged with
2-1 triumph and Japan's third gold medal of the day.
Earlier, Mareka Shidochi of Shigakkan University notched a pair of falls on her way to the 51kg title and Yurika Ito pinned two-time European junior winner Mariana Esanu (MDA) at 59kg for her first major international title since winning the senior Asia crown in May 2009.
In her opening match, Ito from International Pacific Rim University, also
pinned Valeria Zholobova (RUS) to complete a come-from-behind win over
last year's junior silver medalist.
Japan's fourth entry Minori Yachi of Shigakkan posted a win and a loss,
but did not get a chance to advance to medal matches at 44kg and had to
settle for eighth place overall.
